BYLAND is the moniker and last name for Seattle based, Albuquerque raised, cinematic indie-rock artist, Alie Renee. While the arrangements may be vast, and the rhythms often offbeat and intriguing, the cornerstone of Byland is the lyrical vulnerability. Creating space for emotions is a central theme of Byland’s music. After releasing her first studio record, “Gray” in late 2020, Byland received recognition from outlets like KEXP, American Songwriter, and Pop Matters among others. The record was produced by Nathan Yaccino, along with additional mixing by Andy Park. Notable contributors alongside Alie include a lineup of powerful females - Jessica Dobson (Deep Sea Diver), Meagan Grandall (Lemolo), and Abby Gundersen. Byland is currently working on her second studio record, drawing inspiration from the likes of Brandi Carlile, The National, and The War On Drugs. Alie has been playing music since she was a child and was on a stage by 13. But it wasn’t until 2014, after having moved to Seattle, that Alie began performing under the name “Byland”. In spring of 2018, Byland self-released her debut album, “Desert Days”, produced in a home studio with support from her partner and co-writer, Jake.
