BYLAND

An Indie, Folk-Rock Music Project

BIO

BYLAND likens itself to a combination of Brandi Carlile’s modern folk, Manchester Orchestra’s cinematic rock with Bob Dylan’s lyrical authenticity. Alie, front woman of BYLAND performs vocals, piano, guitar and digital percussion. Her husband, Jake, engineers their songs from a small self-made studio in their closet. BYLAND’s firm belief is that music should bring people together. While Alie has played and enjoyed music her whole life, the real impetus to Desert Days, their debut album, was Alie’s desire to memorialize her childhood, her southwestern roots and her father, who passed away in 2012. By creating art through grief, Alie hopes that her songs will aid other people in their various struggles with pain and loss. “I want to take people back to a different place and time,” says Alie. “I want them to remember their roots - the good and the bad - and realize how far they've come.”

Alie and her band, comprised of several local musicians perform in Seattle and in New Mexico.
